International forex worth Rs 1.04 crore seized by Chennai Air Customs, just one arrested

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], January 9 (ANI): 6 travellers coming from Dubai have been intercepted by the Customs Section listed here on Saturday with overseas currency truly worth Rs 1.04 crores. A single passenger amongst them was arrested.

The Customs Office stated in a launch: “Based on intelligence that currency was likely to be smuggled out of India by passengers certain for Dubai by Indigo flight 6E 65, air intelligence officers preserved a stringent vigil at departure terminal to intercept them. 6 passengers – Mansoor Ali Khan (27), Yakalik (68), Thameem Ansari (49), Mohamad Hussain (30), Yousuf (67) – who are all inhabitants of Chennai, and Abdul Rahman (38) of Pudur were intercepted.”

Thameem Ansari, whose unique seizure value crossed Rs 20 lakhs was arrested.
